Davis, 87, a pioneer daughter of Jackson County, passed away Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Ferguson, Gold Hill, where she had resided for 18 years. She was born in Ashland, May 3, 1859, and was the adopted daughter of Southern Oregon’s earliest pioneers, Eber and Sophia Emery. Mrs. Davis attended school in Ashland and later moved to Eagle Point where she completed her schooling. She was married December 28, 1876, to James F. Davis. Mr. Davis passed away in 1921. Four children, Eber, Sophia, James and Emery preceded her in death. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Ferguson, she leaves two grandchildren, Merritt Davis, Gold Hill, and Mrs. Frances Knox, Oakridge, and one great- grandson, Richard Davis. Mrs. Davis was a member of Amethyst Rebecca lodge No. 87, of Gold Hill. Funeral services will be held in the Gold Hill I.O.O.F. hall at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. D. E. Millard officiating. Interment will be in Rock Point cemetery with Amethyst Rebekah lodge officiating. Conger-Morris Funeral parlors are in charge.
