K. Darnell, of this city which occurred on Monday June 17, 1895. Jay was eighteen years of age and had been ill for several months and while all possible was done by the attending physician and relatives to stay the work of the destroyer there has been little hope entertained for several weeks, because of the fact that that most dreaded of diseases, consumption, had become too firmly rooted. Brief funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday and was attended by a large concourse of people, who had gathered to express their regard for the dead and sympathy for the living in their sad hour of bereavement. The remains were interred beside those of his mother, in the family lot in the Masonic cemetery at Jacksonville and were followed to the place of their long rest by a large number of friends. The grave was beautifully decorated with flowers. The memorial sermon will be delivered sometime in July at the church. Deceased made profession of faith in Christ several years ago and died trusting in Jesus of Nazareth.
