COOK, 56, CALLED BY DEATH Ward Manley Cook, 56, a resident of Medford for the past one and one-half years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., following a prolonged illness. Mr. Cook was born at Nashua, Iowa, March 24, 1884, and spent his early life in Iowa. When 18 years of age he moved to North Dakota, living there for four years and then going to California. He was united in marriage to Margaret Hughes, at Long Beach, on February 1, 1937. They moved to Oregon shortly after their marriage, settling in Eugene. Mr. Cook was a salesman for the Commercial importing company, and was well known in Southern Oregon. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Helena, Mont., also a member of the Presbyterian church. He leaves besides his wife, five children by a former marriage, Mrs. Alice Engebritzen of Fallon, Mont., Mrs. Aaron Gray of Terry, Mont., Mrs. Al Sprigg of Klamath Falls, Calvin and Donald, both at home. Four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted from the Perl Funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m., Rev. Sherman L. Divine, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will take place in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
