COBLEIGH, SOUTHERN OREGON PIONEER, PASSES Amos Josiah Cobleigh, one of the oldest remaining pioneers of southern Oregon, passed away at his farm home on Cobleigh road, near Butte Falls, Oregon, Thursday at 12:30 p.m., after a brief illness. Although of the advanced age of 91 he was able to be up and about until the end. Mr. Cobleigh was born in Worcester, Mass., Oct. 7, 1849, where he spent the early part of his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice A. Cassity in Manton county, Michigan, in 1877. They moved to southern Oregon in 1898, going directly to the Butte Falls district, where Mr. Cobleigh took up a homestead, and eared his family. He was a man of fine Christian character, beloved by all who knew him, and will be missed by a host of friends. He had lived on his place for over 42 years. His wife, Mrs. Alice Cobleigh passed away in Sept., 1939. Surviving are three sons, Carl and John Cobleigh of Butte Falls, Ore., Guy Cobleigh of Phoenix, Oregon, one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Page of South Tacoma, Wash., and one brother, Irvin V. Cobleigh, of Hartford, Conn. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Perl Funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will take place in Phoenix cemetery.
