Chase, long a resident of the valley, died suddenly at his home, 909 E. Jackson Blvd., Jan. 13. He was born at W. Newton, Mass., Feb. 22, 1872. He was a graduate of Worchester Polytechnic Institute, class of 1894, and was engaged in the electrical profession in Chicago until coming to the Rogue River valley in 1912 to engage in the fruit business. He was the only son of Lewis and Martha C. B. Chase of Massachusetts, and married Alice Gill of Iowa who survives him. Mr. Chase took an active part in the fruit industry, serving on the board of directors of Southern Oregon Sales and on the board of the Fruitgrowers League for many years. He was interested in civic affairs, having served on the county budget committee and on the county non-high school board. He served in the ration board work until his death. He was a veteran of the Spanish American war, having served in Cuba. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Perl's.
