Lowell G. Fox of Medford, Ore., visiting here with his brother, Ralph Fox, drowned late Sunday in the Nehalem river. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ruth E. Fox in Medford, according to the state police. Mrs. Fox, who has a home in the Applegate district, but has been residing at 11 Tripp street here, was informed of her son's death this morning by state police while preparing for a trip to Los Angeles. Lowell Fox is one of four sons. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Tuesday, 16 Jul 1946, p. 1 MOTHER LEARNS OF SON'S DEATH News of the death of Lowell G. Fox, son of Mrs. Ruth E. Fox of the Applegate district and 11 Tripp street, was received today by Mrs. Fox soon after she arrived in Medford from her home in the Applegate. State police were unable to notify the mother of her son's death before she left for her country home yesterday. Fox, 19, navy veteran, who was visiting in Nehalem, Ore., at the home of his oldest brother, Ralph, was drowned Sunday in the Nehalem river, according to a news dispatch from Nehalem. Details of the death were not reported. The youth, one of four sons, was discharged from the navy May 15 following two and one-half years service. Since that time he had been visiting with his mother and with relatives at Nehalem. Survivors include his father, Joyce Lewis Fox, and two brothers, Edwin and Lawrence, of Rockaway, Ore.
