Armstrong, an employe of the Southern Pacific company, while engaged in switching in the yards at Ashland between three and four o'clock this morning, was run over by a freight car and received injuries from which he died at 10 o'clock this morning. The left leg was badly crushed below the knee and the left hip also injured. The right leg was crushed at the ankle joint. It seems that while engaged in his duties as a switchman he was kneeling on the bed of a moving flatcar to pull a coupling pin and was thrown beneath the moving wheels, receiving the frightful injures stated. The young man, who before entering the train service of the company was caller at the depot here, leaves a wife and babe, and the terrible misfortune which has befallen them is deeply deplored by numerous friends. - Tidings.
