C. Murrey of 1034 West Ninth street, were honored at an open house March 28 at an open house March 28 at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Gardner, in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary. The Murreys have made their home in this city for 42 years. About 75 friends and relatives called during the afternoon to extend congratulations to the couple and thei received flowers and gifts from friends here as well as in other states and cities. Mrs. Gardner cut the golden wedding cake and Miss Venita Gardner oured and took charge of the guest book. For the affair Mrs. Murrey wore a velvet gown and a corsage of gardenias and red roses. Mrs. Murrey is the former Rebecca Farran and her marriage to Mr. Murrey took place in Primghar, Iowa, March 17, 1898. Mr. Murrey, a graduate of the normal school at Dixon, Ill., and also of Highland Normal college, was teaching school at the time of the marriage and his bride was assistant postmaster at Primghar. Mr. Murrey continued with his school work for nine years and the couple then came to Medford, Mr. Murrey establishing a bicycle repair shop. Mrs. Murrey has been active in civic groups and for more than eight years managed the Red Cross thrift shop. Both Mr. and Mrs. Murrey are 74 years of age. They have one daughter, Mrs. Gardner, and one granddaughter, Miss Venita Gardner.
