Samuel T. Richardson, son of Mrs. Bell F. Richardson of 33 N. Peach St., was given his silver gunner's wings and promoted to the grade of corporal when he completed the flexible gunnery course for radio men at Yuma army air field this week, according to an announcement from the field. Cpl. Richardson graduated from the radio operators and mechanics school, Sioux Falls, S. D. He is a graduate of Medford Senior High school and attended the University of Oregon. IN FLORIDA - Lt. Maurice J. Sample, who recently received his wings at Marfa, Tex., is now stationed at Avon Park, Fla., where he is taking final training before a combat service. Lt. Sample's wife and baby daughter have been with him for the past 10 months, but will return soon to Medford. The lieutenant is first pilot on a B-17 and heads a crew of nine men. HE is the son of Mrs. Muriel C. Sample of 306 N. Peach St. A brother, Earl Sample, is with the fifth air force in Italy, and has been in combat areas for over a year.
