At three o'clock in the afternoon,in the presence of the bride's family and over fifty invited guests,and wih mr.and mrs.Eldo Miller of Portland as Man of Honor and Bridesmaid respectively,the popular young couple was married at the home of the bride's parents by the Rev.H.A.Schlatter of Portland.On closing the ceremony,congratulations were offered by all after which a table heaped wih gleaming wedding gifts were viewed and before the guests bade farewell and departed for their respective homes,rereshments of ice cream,candies, and cake were served. Stramers of red and gold,pussy willows,daffodils and ferns were used sttractively in the decorating,while a suggestion of the valentine season was also carried out by the presence of valentines of various descriptions.The bride and her maid were charmingly attired in white;the former holding a bouquet of pink carnations and snowdrops with an intermingling of gree,while the latter held one of red carnations.The groom and best man was dressed in blue and wore a pink and red carnation respectively. The newlyweds left early Monday morning for a long honeymoon trip iin the South,after which they will make their home in Pekin,Illinois,where the groom is a prominent farmer.Mr.Birkey had been visiting at the Shrock home for several months prior to the marriage.
