All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com December 21, 2006, 7:35 pm Canby Herald July 2,1925 A Former Canby Girl Married on Sunday A wedding of interest to many took place at St Pauls Episcopal Church of Oregon City,Saturday morning at 11:30,when Miss Frances De Brutz Robinson,only daughter of Mr and Mrs Edwin Gardner Robinson of Aurora became the bride of Delmer Louise Powers of Palouse,Wash.The impressive ring ceremony of the Epicopal Church was read by Rev J.A. Cleland,rector,in the presence of about 60 relatives and friends of the contracting parties. Preceding the marriage ceremony Miss Judith Hedges rendered Rubensteins "Melodie" and as the bride and her father entered the church Lohengrins Wedding march pealed forth. The bride and her father were met at the chancel by the bridegroom and the rector.At the altar,where the ceremony was performed,were pink carnations and roses mingled with maiden hair fern. Mendelssohns Wedding March was played as the couple passed down the aisle and at the entrance were showered with rose petals cast by friends who had gathered to bid them farewell.Rose petals were also strewn along the path from the altar to the car that conveyed them to the Robinson home. The ceremony was followed by a recetion,after which the bridal party left for "Robinwood",the country home of the Robinson family,on the banks of the Willamette river at Wilsonville,where a wedding breakfast was served. The bride is an attractive appearing young woman.was beautiful in her gown of white crepe fielle with chiffon trimming,and she wore a white picture hat.Her shower bouquet was formed with white carnations and sweet peas. Mr and Mrs Powers have gone on a motoring trip,the destination being British Columbia,and upon their return they are to make their home at Palouse,Wash.,where mr Powers is superintendant of city schools. The bride is a popular girl and has been an active worker of the Episcopal church during her residence at Aurora..She is one of the prettiest girls in Oregon,and by her charming manner has won many friends. mrs Powers attended Stanford University for several years,where her unusual ability was recognized by her high standing.Her special articles have shown her to be one of the outstanding students while at the California Institution,mr Robinson,father of the bride,is president of the Molalla Electric Company.
