Former Canby Man Married in Portland
The marriage of Miss Miriam G.Gilman and george N.Wait was solemnized at 4 
o'clock Saturday,September 28, at the home of the bride's parents,Mr. and Mrs. 
E.H.Gilman, in the Chasselton  Apartments,Portland.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev.Perry Hopper, of the Westminster 
Presbyterian Church.The wedding party stood in an alcove filled with gladiolus 
and greens, and lighted with orchid candles.The bride, who was given in 
marriage by her father, wore a bouffant gown trimmed with sprays of roses in 
pastel tints.The maid of honor was Miss Evelyn Badgerman.
The bride is a granddaughter of S.L.N.Gilman,an old time resident od 
Portland,and daughter of Mr.and Mrs.E.H.Gilman of Portland.
The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas N.Wait of Canby and a grandson of 
ex-Chief Justice Aaron E.Wait,who came acoss the plains  to Oregon City in 
1847 and moved to Portland in 1862.
The ceremony was witnessed by relatives and near friends after which a buffet 
luncheon was served.Mrs. W.A.Mansfield presided at the tea table  and mIss 
Mary Gilman served the cake and ices.
After a short trip to Seattle,Mr. and Mrs. Wait will be at home to their 
friends at thier apartment at Chasslton.
