All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com October 1, 2006, 11:35 am Canby Herald and Clackamas County News April 20,1922 Civil War veteran Dies Gardner Whipple,Sr.,a prominent citizen of Clackamas county,passed away at his home near Canby on Easter Sunday.Mr Whipple had been failing slightly for several months,but had always enjoyed vivisting with friends and members of his family till the very moment death called him. mr Whipple,one of 13 children,was born in the northern part of Pennsylvania,Ocotber 14,1838,but the greatest part of his boyhood was spent near Rochester,N.Y. In 1858,he came to California by way of the isthmus and engaged in thelumber business in San Fransisco.in 1862 he enlisted in the Civil War.In 1875,Mr Whipple came to oregon and settled ona farm five miles north of oregon City.He was united in marriage to Eliza Ellen Starkweather in 1890,and since that time has resided on a farm near Canby.He is survived by his widow and four children,Mrs Henry Kuehl,Olive A.,Gardner M., and Eva Adney Whipple.he is also survived by one brother,Edwin Whipple,of berkely,California File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/or/clackamas/obits/w/whipple2216gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/orfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
