Wm.Wehner Killed By Falling Tent Pole
Injured at Fair Grounds Sunday Evening,Death Came A Few Hours Later
Wm.Wehner,27 years of age,and a resident of Canby since boyhood,died at the 
Oregon City hospital early Monday morning frominjuries sustained at the fair 
grounds in this city Sunday eening.Mr.Wehner,with a company of men,was engaged 
to remove the large community tent  which had been erected for the fair 
occasion.he stood near the tent sawing a board.As the large poles started to 
fall someone yelled "look out" and without glancing to see what direction the 
poles were falling Mr.Wehner jumped immediately into the path.The timber 
struck himon the head fracturing his skull.he was rushed to the hospital in a 
critical  condition and passed away a few hours later.
A few months ago he sustained a fractured leg while working in the woods near 
here,and had just recovered from this misfortune after spending some time in 
the hospital.His father,Frederick Wehner,died only a few weeks ago and the 
young man had been living with  his mother at the family home on Molalla 
Avenue.Mrs.Wehner had been in poor health for some time and the death of her 
husband and son made her condition seem more seriuos.
Mr.Wehner Jr.,was a member of the I.O.O.F.Lodge in Canby and was a man of good 
repute.His death came as a shock to his many friends in the community.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in this city yesteray 
afternoon andinternment was made in Zion cemetary.The I.O.O.F Lodge had charge 
of the services at the grave.
