Mr.Wang was born in Michigan 68 years ago and came to Canby in the early days embarking in the mercantile business.He retired several years ago selling his store to J.R.Vinyard.Few men in Clcakamas county were beter abd nore favorably known than Mr.Wang. Funerasl services were held in the Methodist church here Monday,and internment was made in Zion cemetary.Most of the local business houses ine the city were closed during the service which was largely attended.Rev.W.Boyd Moore,a long time friend of the family,cunducted the services at the church and grave. Mr.Wang was born in Michigan January 12,1862.During his early chilhood the family moved to PLeasnatValley,Wasconsin,where he worked on the farm and attended the district school.He later attended the Normal School at River Falls,Wisconsin.He was married to Caroline Swanby in 1881 at Comstock,Wisconsin.The ypung couple beagn their married life at Shell Lake,Wisconsin where Mr.Wang entered the mercantile business and later became interested in politics.He was a successful merchant,conducting a general store,and with his brother,was interested in the drug business.He was a republican and had been elected sherriff,register of deeds,and county clerk of Washburn county,Wisconsin. In 1901 Mr.Wang and family moved to Canby where he purchased the store of Jay Cook which he successfully conducted until he retired from business in 1919.After a pleasant trip to his former home in Wisconsin,and at New York and other eastern cities during the year following his retirment.Mr.Wang spent his last years at their home in this city,and in traveling in the western country which he loved so well. He was an honest straightforward and upright man,a good citizen and a loving husband and father.He is survived by his widow and four children,namely:Lillian Ryan,San Fransisc;Florence Adams,Portland,Oregon;Mildred Brown,Bremerton,Wash.;and Dr.Stanley Wang of New York City.Mr.Wang has one sister living in Minneapolis,Minn.,Mrs.Carrie Nordby and three brothers,Ole and Charles of Wisconsin,and Albert of Los Angeles,Calif. In the death of Mr.Wang the community loses a beloved citizen.He had served for a number of terms as councilman and was active in the social affairs of this comkmunity.
