Walker,a former resident here and at one time cashier of Canby Bank and Trust Co,now the First National Bank of Canby,died suddenly at his home,801 East 24th street,North Portland,Sunday afternoon. Death was due to cerebral hemorraghe,according to Dr L.C McCabe,the attending physician. Worry over the crash of the State Bank of Portland,of which institution he was president and chairman of the board of directors,is held as being an indirect factor. Walker was in apparent good health Saturday,but shortly after midnight was stricken.He died at 2 p.m. Sunday without regaining consciuosness. The funeral services for Le Roy D.Walker,were held from the Finley chapel in Portland,with the Rev John Dawson ,pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd officiating. Services were under the direction of the Masonic lodge.Mr Walker was also an Odd Fellow. He was 49 years old an besides his widow,Mrs Mary H Walker ,he is survived by his daughter,Louise,his parents mr and Mrs J.W Walker of San Francisco and a brother and sister,Charles S.Walker and Mrs Blanche Norville,both of San Francisco. Before becoming president of the State Bank of Portland,which failed i n february 1922,and is now in process of liquidation,Walker was associated with a number of rural banks in Clackamas County. He was born in Illinois and came to Portlan from Clackamas County about ten years ago. Walker,together with Anton Eckern and Conrad P.Olson,other officials of the State Bank of Portland,was under indictment on charges of receiveing deposits after the bank was known to be insolvent and misapplication of funds.
