Tucker tuckarb701@bellsouth.net December 8, 2007, 9:58 am Family Theda Boyle Tucker Obituary June 7, 1910-November 10, 1997 Funeral services were held for Theda Boyle Tucker on Saturday, November 15, 1997 at The Estacada Funeral Chapel. Theda died on November 10, 1997 in Estacada,Ore. She was 87 years of age. She was a third generation native Oregonian and a descendant of Isaac Cook, a pioneer settler in the Junction City, Lane County area of the Oregon Territory. She was born in Portland,Ore. on June 7, 1910, the daughter of Harry and Hattie Boyle. She received her education in Portland, graduating from Parkrose High School. Theda came to the Estacada area in 1929 and taught at the Barton School for two years. In 1935, she taught at the two-room school in Springwater. She married William H. Tucker of Springwater on June 3, 1936 in Oregon City. They continued living in the Springwater area for the next 62 years. She was a school teacher, both full and part time, as well as a substitute. Estacada rural mail-carrier, secretary of the W-T Diversified Farming Corporation, and a partner of Tucker Enterprises. Theda was a 69-year member of the order of the Eastern Star, Parkrose Chapter. She was a 50-year member of the Oregon State Grange, a member of the Oregon Retired Educators Association, Inc., a charter member of Oregon Women for Agriculture, a member of the Oregon Historical Society, and a charter member of Jackknife-Zion-Horseheaven, and affiliate of the Oregon Historical Society. She was Springwater Juvenile Grange matron during the 40's and 50's, president of the Estacada PTA during the 50's, and a Home Extension Advisory Board member and chairman in the 60's. Theda was a vital force in the community throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, William H. Tucker, of Springwater, a daughter, Nancy A. (Tucker) Tedrow, and a son, William "Tucker" Tucker, both of Estacada; seven grandchildren, Wesley Tedrow of Virginia Beach,Va., Scott Tedrow of Estacada, Branch Tedrow of Salem,Ore., Laura Tedrow-Isom of Aloha, Sarah Tedrow of Estacada, Michelle Carlson and Mary Tucker, both of Dallas,Ore.; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew of Virginia Beach,Va., and Zachariah and Joshua, both of Dallas,Ore.
