All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com September 2, 2006, 4:32 pm Clackamas County News July 7,1921 Rudolph Samuelson killed in accident Rudolph Samuelson of this city,but more recently of Salem,died in a Salem hospital Friday morning of injuries received in an automobile accident,which occured near Brook last saturday evening when a roadster,traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a Ford,and in which seven people were injured. Samuelson,according to his father John Samuelson,a well known resident of Canby,was coming from Salem to Canby in order to visit his parents ove rthe Fourth and had met Osbourne,in whose care he was riding,whent he accident occured Samuelson was born in Iron Mountain,Michigan,August 12,1889 and came to Canby when one year ols with his parents.He graduated from the Canby Grammar school with the class of 1914.Samuelson then went to Portland where he took a course in electrical engineering at the Y.M.C.A graduating later from the Adcox Automobile school. Samuelson as one of the most popular and well liked boys of the community and his loss is mourned by a great number of friends. The funeral services were held Tuesday from the Canby M.E Church,the Rev. W.Boyd moore pastor officiating.The packed church and the great number of beautiful floral pieces gave a fitting testimony to the young mans standing in the community.Fitting vocal selections were rendered by a choir consisting of M.J.Lee,E.D.Blackman,Adam Knight,Mrs Genevieve Faulkner,Mrs Moody,Mrs W.Boyd Moore and J.W. Snyder.Rev.M Colber sang a solo and Mrs Ralph Mandeville acted as piano accompianist. The pallbearers were harold and Landon Regele,Walter Upperdahl,Edward dregnie,Mark Dodge and Howard Hien.The honor pallbearers were Miss Cora Douglas,Miss Margaret Brown,Miss Lorena Hornig,Miss Cora Ausve,Miss Allison Buhman and Miss Evelyn Birtchet.the internment took place in the family lot in the Zion cemetary.
