Church Wednesday D.C Rones,prominent old time resident of Canby,passed away at his home near this city,Sunday afternoon,July 16th,at 2:25 o'clock,after an illness of two weeks,caused by a fall while clearing land about a month ago,which terminated in a blood clot on the brain. Mr Rones was laid up for a few days after the fall,but was able to get around for a few days before he was taken ill again about two weeks ago,when he gradually became worse,and all hopes were given up gor his recovery.His family was at his bedside at the end.he remained conciuos until Wednesday of last week after which he was unconciuos to the end. Funeral services were held at the M.E Church in Canby,last Wednesday at 2 o'clock P.m.,with internment in the Norwegian Lutheran cemetary,near this city.Rev Overt Skilbred,pastor of the Lutheran church of this city,officiating.Special songs were rendered by members of the Lutheran church. The pallbearers were old time friends of the deceased and were: O.M. Mattison,Math. Erickson,John Satter,John Furre,A.L. Kleve,and K.O Lee. With the passing of Mr Rones,Canby loses one of its old time residents,and one who had done much toward building up the community.He was a man of sterling character and was well loved by all who knew him. D,C Rones was born in Trondhjem,Norway,August 24,1840,and at the time of his death was 81 years,10 months and 22 days old.In 1869 he was untied in marriage to Miss Margaret Logan,and sailed immediately thereafter to the United States,first settling in Baldwin,Wisconsin,where they resided for 29 years.In 1898 they left Wisconsin for Oregon,locating near Canby,where they ahve since resided.To this union nine children were born,eight of whom survive. Besides the widow,the following children surviveL J.C and Fred Rones of Portland,Ore.,Charlie,of Milwaukie,Wis.,Mrs Nels Oaths,of canby,Or.,Mrs Petteford,of Minneapolis,Minn.,Mrs John Greves,of North Bend,Ore.,and Elmer,of San Francisco,Calif.With the exception of Mrs Petteford,of Minneapolis,all attended their fathers funeral on Wednesday.He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/or/clackamas/obits/r/rones2224gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/orfiles/ File size: 2.9 Kb
