Aged and Pioneer resident of Macksberg is dead
Sarah Jane Offield was born in Missouri in 1847,and crossed the plains with 
her parents at the age of 12 years,walking most of th way as she was the 
oldest of nine children.She was married to Elisha Riggs in 1868,and settled 
near Macksberg,where they lived 58 years.A husband and two children 
survive;Edwin Riggs and Olive hartle three grandsons and three 
granddaughters.Sarah Riggs,wife of Elisha Riggs,died at her home in the 
Macksberg district,Saturday,July 9.Mrs Riggs was 73 years,9 months and 24 days 
old,and had lived ever since her marriage on the farm where she died.She had 
been ailing for about a year and gradually grew weaker until the end.The 
funeral was last Tuesday,July 12,burial taking place at the Zion cemetary,Canby
