Pioneer Woman is Laid To rest
Mrs W.R Porter,a resident of this city for nearly twenty years.passed away at 
the family home on Saturday,May 30,after an illness of some duration.She was a 
native of Iowa,born at Cedar Rapids February 11,1856.She was married to W.R 
Porter December 21,1881,and three children were born to them,namely: Mrs J.S 
Martin,Canby;mrs A.A. Smith,Long beach,Wash.;and R.L. Porter of 
Dothan,Oregon.All were here at the time of her death.
Besides these she is survived by her husband and ten grandchildren,one of 
whom,Raymond Porter,was brought up by the motherly woman.
Mrs Porter was a member of the Methodist church of Canby,in which she was an 
active worker for many years.
Ther funeral was held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church,Rev W.B Moore 
officiating,and internment was made in the Zion cemetary
