Arthur Paulson fatally Injured at Barlow Sun
Artrhur paulson ,38,Portland-Salem Stage Driver ,resding at 740 E.Twenty first 
street,Portland,died at the Oregon City hospital Sunday morning at 11 
o'clock ,following injuries recieved in an automoblie accident on the Pacific 
Highway near the intersection of the Barlow-Monitor Road at 9:30 Sunday 
Morning.
The accident happened while Mr Paulson had stopped the stage to let off a 
passenger,Miss Julia Sumaski,of barlow,who got on the stage at Canby,and while 
Mr Paulson was handing some baggage to Miss Sumaski,a car headed south,driven 
by Mrs H.P Bush,of Portland,crushed Mr Paulson between the approaching car and 
the stage,crushing both legs and otherwise injuring him.Mr andMrs Bush 
suffered only slight injuries.
As the car struck Paulson he pushed the girl to whom he was handing 
luggage,Miss Sumaski,off of the highway,and by this action saved her from 
serious injury.She was quite badly bruised but no bones were broken.
According to Mrs Bush ,she was driving slowly when the accident happened,on 
account of the wet pavement,and her reason for hitting the stage was that a 
car bearing Oregon License No.63937 was approaching the highway from the 
Monito Road and to avoid a collision with this car she struck the stage.
Mr Paulson has been driving for the Portlan-Salem stage line for several years 
and was a very efficient driver and was very well liked by patrons of the 
stage line.He has been living with his mother and sister in Portland
