Harry Melvin ,Of Barlow,Buried at Zion Cemetary
Funeral services for harry Melvin,who passed away at Barlow Friday,were held 
from the Norwegian church at barlow Sunday afternoon,Rev W Boyd Moore,pastor 
of the Canby M.E Church officiating.Internment was in Zion cemetary near Canby.
Harry Melvin was born  in Grant county,Wisconsin,and at the time of his death 
was 84 years and 10 months old.he served as a color seargent in the U.S Army  
during the Civil War.After the war he lived for four years on a farm in 
Nebraska,from that state he came to Oregon and settle din Clackamas County.The 
last seven years of his life he was blind and during that time was cared for 
by relatives and friends
Another soldier of this country gone-the ranks are thinning-but they have left 
behind  a noble heritage
