William S.Maple Is Taken Suddenly
Succumbs to Heart Trouble Of Long duration Monday Morning,At Home
W.S.Maple,ex mayor of this city and former night police,died suddenly at his 
home hre at 90 o'clock Monday morning.He had been in poor health for a couple 
of years,and during the  two months had been confined to the house most of the 
time,but ws able to be up and around.Sunday he entertained several visitors at 
the home and seemed to feel the best that he had for several weeks.As he 
attempted to walk across the floor Monday morning he ws taken with a sudden 
attack of heart trouble,which has long been his difficulty,and died almost 
instantly as he fell.
William Sherman Maple was orn in Ohio in 1864 and spent most of his life in 
Oregon, residing in Canby for more than  eighteen years  where he was for a 
long time engaged in the blacksmith business.He was a member of the Masonic 
and Oddfellows lodges in Canby and prominent in civic matters,having served in 
various capacities.At the last general election Mr.Maple was elected constable 
of the district,which he held at the time of his death.He was held in high 
esteem in this community and his death is regretted by scores of intimate 
friends throughout Clackamas County.
Mr.Maple is survived by his widow,Lillan May Maple,and a son and a 
daughter,matured,two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held in Canby yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock and 
internment was made in Zion cemetary.Rev.Spies,a longtime friend of the 
family,delivered the address at the church and the Masonic lodge had charge of 
the services at the grave.
