Father Jonas of Canby Catholic Church delivers Funeral Address-Internment in Zion Cemetary Caught between two motorcycles Saturday night while traveling on the hgihway near gervais,bernard F Hurias,well known Canby boy.20 years of age,was thrown from the machine he was riding and sustained injuries from which he died shortly after 7 o'clock Sunday evening.According to the statement of those who witnessed the accident ,bernard Hurias,his brother,Lester,John Dozier and Engewal Linn,all Canby boys,left Saturday evening on their motorcycles intending to drive to Independence and spend the weekend in that country.It seems from the report that Lester Hurias and Linn were riding ahead while Bernard and the Dozier boy were in the rear.This was the postion they held unitl they passed Woodburn,and when the boys in the rear realized that they were some distance behind,they put on more energy and when near the Sam Brown farm,undertook to pass the boys in the lead.Bernards machine was between the two boys when the handle bars of his machine collided with the motorcycle his brother was riding.in som manner the machine was hurled against the machine on the oppostie side and the swiftly traveling vehicle which was carrying the unfortunate young man seemed to turn over backward.his head was crushed between the heavy machine and the pavement.he was taken to the hospotal in Oreogn City in an uncnsciuos condition from which he never recovered.Physicians called to give him aid pronounced it a hopeless case as soon as they made an examination. Bernard Hurias was a son of mr and Mrs Chas Hurias of this city and was well known throughout this vicinity.His death came as a stunning blow to his many friends. No other member of the the party was injured.it is said they were all traveleing rapidly at the time the accident occurred. J.H Ezell of Portland,who happened along shortly after the young man fell,found the machine pile dup by the sidde of the road.He assisted in taking the young man to the Woodburn hospital where first aid was rendered,but his condition was found to be so seriuos that he was taken to the hospital in Oregon City where he passed away a few hours later. \Those of the family who survive him are: Mr and Mrs Chas Hurias,his parents,and brothers and sisters as follows: Chas Hurias,Jr.,of Canby;Mrs fred Howard,of Toledo,Wash.;Mrs Wilbur Sandsness,Eddie,Lester,Mrs newell Olson,and John Huiras,all of this city.
