Resident Many Years Passes To His Rest
John Harms,a resident of Clackamas County for fifty years,passed away at his 
home near Canby Sunday evening following a brief illness.The funeral was held 
Tuesday,Rev.Kraxberger of Oregon City,delivering the address,and 
S.A.Miller,undertaker of Aurora,had charge of the burial.
John Harms was born in Germany,October 17,1845.When about 14 yeas of age he 
enlisted as a cabin boy and crossed the oceans of the world.He followed 
sailing until he was 21 years of age,and in 1860 came to this 
country,locatingin Portland,moving to the Harms farm in the Macksberg 
district.He was married in 1872 and five children were born to that union.
Mr.Harms was well known in Clackamas County,having spent the greater part of 
his life in this vicinity,and he was held in high esteem by all who knew him
