A large procession of friends followed the unfortunate members of the family to their last resting place and witnessed the services at the grave. Rev. R.W.Archer of Oregon City conducted the services both at New Era and at the grave. Herman Anthony,Sr., the fifth victim, was buried Sunday and the funeral services were held at the family home. Maude Anthony, the only surviving member of the party, is at a hospital in Oreogn City,yet in a very critical condition, but strong hope is held out by attending physicians and nurses for her recovery. Irene Evans died Thursday morning following the accident, at the hospital. A conroners jury in session Thursday morning at the office of the county coroner,Morris Holman, after hearing testimony concerning the fatal accident, reurned a verdict as follows: "Accidental collision of Automobile driven by J.W.Evans, and a Sothern Pacific locomotive on the Pacific Highway crossing of the Canby Molalla railroad at Canby" The jury was composed of Geo. N. Haskins,foreman;N.Bowland,J.B.Caldwell,Geo. A.Green,Walter L. Brandt and Harry Babler. Coroner R.M.Holman conducted the inquest and called the following witnesses: Dr. Frank Mount of Oregon City, J.N.Linn,brakeman who was on the engine invvolved in the crash; C.DeWal, fireman; Joseph Kirk , engineer;HerbertMoore,state traffic officer;Frank Oglesby,Canby;Earl Anthony of Portland,son of Herman Anthony,Sr., one of the victims,Frank Rief,Portland,father of Mrs. J.W.Evans, and Dr. E.H. McLean of Oregon City. Mr. and Mrs. Evans formerly lived in Canby and were well known in this commuinity where the former was engaged as a aplumber for a few years. They moved to New Era about three years ago. Hermana Anthony had lived in New Era for about half a century. His wife died about a year ago.
