All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com December 29, 2006, 4:49 pm Canby Herald September 15,1927 California Woman Is Killed Near Canby Mrs.Chas.Ellsworth of Los Angeles,Calif..was killed almost instantly and her husband seriously injured early Saturday evening on the highway three miles southwest of Canby.They were making a tour of the Willamette Valley.Mr.Ellsworth was piloting the machine and traveling at a moderate rate of speed,when a sudden burst of a tire sent their car over an emankment. An emergency call was sent in to Dr.Dedman's office in Canby at a few minutes after six o'clock,but the doctor was away on another case.Dr.Gisey of Aurora was summoned to the scene of the accident and pronounced the woman in a seriuos condition.She was placed in a car and started for the Oregon CityHospital,but died before she reached there.It was later learned that she sustained a fractured skull.Mr.Ellsworth sustained a fractured rib and was otherwise injurd. Mr.and Mrs.Ellsworth were traveling north when the accident occured.Parties who happened along just at the time of the accident say that the car skidded into the ditch when the tire blew out and turned completely over.It was indeed a sudden and sad ending of a most pleasant vacation trip through Oregon. Mrs.Ellsworth's body was shipped to Los Angeles Monday and Mr.Ellsworth followed.
