This sad news was conveyed to friends and acquaintances in Canby, and came as a complete surprise to some.It was known that early in the spring and summer Archie had suffered a severe attack of rheumatism and much concern was felt for his recovery. But he had rallied from this deisease sufficient to be around, and prior the the 4th drove to Canby in their car with his mother fromt heir home in Alsea. However, the ravages of the didease had so weakened his heart that upon their return it was thought necessary to engage another to drive them home. The heart attack increased and the first of August he was removed to the hospital in Independence where he passed away on August the 7th. Archie Buck was a freshman at the Canby High School in 1922,and with his parents,mr and Mrs J.E Buck, resided at their beautiful home on the highway, formerly known as the Halvorsen place. He also attended the Nazarene Church Sunday School, his parents having held membership in that church.Archie was of a very energetic and ambitiuos nature, and was born and reared on a farm.He loved the out door life and was never quite resigned to the limitations o ftown.just one year ago he,with his parents, went to live in a dairy ranch just out fromt he town of Alsea,in benton County. The funeral was held from the Nazarene church at Salem, and his remains were laid beside those if his sister who had preceded him in death. We feel that Archie will be among the redeemed when Jesus comes to make His Jewels, having given testimony that Jesus saved him, before departing this life. it is hard to understand just why a life that is blossoming into manhood should be so quickly severed, but we question not, only to bow our heads in humble submission to the whole will of God.To the parents and the two brothers who survive,we exetend our heartfelt sympathies, knowing that only God can fill the aching void.
