R.P Blodgett,died at 196 Wilson street,Salem,oregon,Thursday,january 
25,1912,at the age of 59 years,2 months and 25 days
He was born in Berlin,Marquette(now Green Lake) County,Wisconsin,November 
1,1852.November 25,1874,he wa unite in marriage to Miss Julia E Rowe at Mason 
City,Iowa.To this union were born seven children,three of whom preceded him to 
the better land,four surviving,together with his faithful wife,to mourn his 
loss.They are Mrs Ed Simmons,Mrs C.H Peterson of Salem,B.F 
Blodgett,Boyceville,Wisconsin,and Ira Blodgett of Salem,besides five brothers 
and one sister,S.M Blodgett,Cumberalnd,Pennsylavania,A.J 
Blodgett,Ione,California,mrs A.J Cushing,Rockford,Washington,S.S. 
Blodgett,Seattle,Washington.S.S. Blodgett,Knapp,Wisconsin and W.N 
Blodgett,Irving,Oregon
He came to salem,April 15,1911,leaving the cold winters and hot summers of the 
middle west for a more genial climate.By hard work and frugality he had laid 
by enough of this worlds goods to supply each  need and expected to enjoy the 
remaining years of his life in the comforts he had so richly earned;but it was 
not to be so.But to the land that is fairer than day he has gone and awaits 
our coming ,and surely we can say with the Master"An enemny hath donethis"
Mr Blodgett is an uncle of Mrs E.O Shepherd
