All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com August 20, 2007, 8:33 am Canby Herald May 8,1931 Death Calims Sixth Accident Victim Miss Maude Anthony Passes Away At Oregon City Hospital Saturday Miss Maude Anthony, the sixth victim of the fatal accident in this city April 23 when an automobile piloted by J.W.Evans collided with a locomotive as it was backing across the Pacific Highway at the grade crossing east of town,died in a hospital in Oregon City, Saturday night at 11 o'clock where she was taken in an ambulance following the accident. Miss Anthony has been in a critical condition since the misfortune whoch took a party of six who were driving to Canby to attend a funeral , but attending physicians had hoped for her recovery. She seeemed to be improving until Friday night, when her condition took a change for the worse and she passed away affter long suffering. Miss Anthony was well known in Canby, having lived at New Era all her life. She was a member of the Canby Rebekah Lodge, uniting with that organization only afew days prior t the accident in which her father, Mr. and Mrs. Evans, and the latters two children lost their lives. She was terribly burned when the car caught fire, and suffered much pain during the eleven days following the accident. The funeral was held at the Holman and Pace Chapel in Oregon City Tuesday afternoon ay 2 o'clock and the body was laid to rest beside her father and mother at Zion cemetary.
