All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com November 4, 2006, 1:18 pm Canby Herald and Clackamas County News June 21,1923 Joseph Anderson Laid to rest In Barlow Cemetary Funeral services for the late Joseph Thoralf Anderson,son of Mr and Mrs Fred Anderson,of Aurora,who passed away at the Tacoma General Hospital at Tacoma,Wash.,on Saturday ,June 16th,were held from the home at one o'clock and from the Barlow Lutheran Church at 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon,with rev Overt Skilbred,of Eugene and Rev H Rogen,of Monitor,preaching the funeral service.Internment was in the Barlow cemetary. A large host of friends and relatives were present to pay their last respects to the deceased.A profusion of flowers were in evidence,showing the high esteem in which the young man was held by all who knew him.Solos were sung by Amos Corhouse and Miss Marie Corhouse,of Silverton,and by the Misses Stella and Agnes Berg,of Canby,at the services held at both the home and the church Jospeh Thoralf Anderson was born August 25,1892,in Ottertail County,Minn.,He was baptized at the age of four weeks in the Lutheran Church of that place.He came to Oregon with his parents in the fall of 1899 and settled near Aurora,where he had grown up from boyhood to manhood.he was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Barlow,August 2,1908,by Rev H Rogen. On May 10th,1923,he was struck by an automobile near Camp Lewis,Wash.,while he and a friend were riding a motorcycle,and he had the bones in his left leg shattered which necessitated an operation,which took place on June 15,but his constitution was so weakened that he could not stand the shock and he passed away at 1:30 on the morning of Saturday,june 16,at the age of 30 years,10 months and 21 days.He had been attending the Pacific Lutheran College at Parkland,Wash.,since last Christmas and it was while attending school there that this accident that caused his death occurred. he leaves to mourn his loss,his parents,Mr and Mrs Fred Anderson,two brothers,Arthur F and Thorsten J and Four sisters.Alma J.,Mabel T.,Ida A., and Alice F., all residing on the old home place near Aurora,where the children were reared,and besides this,he leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn the loss of a true friend and good companion.
