All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com November 4, 2006, 1:58 pm Canby Herald And Clackamas County News July 12, 1923 Over 100 friends and neighbors of Mr and Mrs O.M Metteson,went in a body to their home near this city Saturday evening,July 7,and gave them a real surprise party,the occassion being in honor of the twenty fifth wedding anniversary,which fell on July 4th.mrs Mattesons birtrhday was also on the 4th of July. mr and Mrs Matteson were presented with a beautigul 26 piece chest of Rogers 1847 anniversary pattern silverware with their monograms and the date 198-1923 engraved.This set was purchased with donations from their many friends and was purchased from our local jeweler,J.A Fosmark,who also done the engraving.the happy coouple was also presented with other tokens in remembrance of their Silver anniversary. Mr and Mrs Matteson were married at La Crosse,Wisconsin,on the Fourth of July,1898.They have been residents of this community for a number of years and ahve made a host of friends since coming here,as is shown by the high respect in which they ar eheld by all who know them.It is to be hoped that Mr and Mrs Matteson may live to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary,twenty five year shence. The following program was a feature of the eveing: Introduction by A.L Kleve;son"A Message of Love";devotion by Brother Carl Fosmark;song by a choir,"Min Nye Sang";speech by Rev H.Rogen,"Brude Talle";duet by Albin Erickson and carl Fosmark."I am happy In Him";speech by A.Petterson;solo by A Erickson,"He Give Me Joy";speech,Chris Arneseon;song,by the choir,"Just A Ray Of Sunshine"speech.John Samuelson;solo George Fosmark;speech,Mrs A Olson;poem by W.W.Wood;duet bA.Erickson and carl Fosmark,"I Walk With The King";presentation speech by A.L.Kleve;song by the choir,"True Hearted and Wholehearted";Responce speeches by Mr and mrs O.M Matteson;closing remarks by A.L.Kleve,who was toastmaster of the evening Doxology,song by all.After the Program Mr and Mrs O.M. Matteson received congratulations upon this occasion.Lunch consisting of cake,coffee,ice cream,lefse,wafler and many other good things to eat was served to all present and was very much enjoyed by all.
