Sherwood News Sheet January 17, 1912
Monday evening marked an epoch in the life of Mrs W.J.Dodson and her friends 
prepared a surprise for her in the way of a party at her home in the east part 
of town.
Those participating in the surprise met at the corner by J.E Morcacks store 
and went in a body to the Dodson home,where all was quiet until it was time 
for the surprise to be announced.Then some member of the party knocked on the 
door and as it was opened the guests rushed in shouting "surprise".It was 
complete in every detail,for mr and mrs Dodson were both nearly taken off 
their feet. A birthday surprise for Mrs Dodson had never entered the minds of 
either of them ,but thye made the best of it and proved they were always reayd 
to entertain,even on the shortest notice.
The house was turned over to the visitors and games of a variuos nature were 
indulge din till a late hour,when a lunch of coffee and cake were served.
Mrs Dodson was presented with a salad set and cake plate,Mrs J.E Morback 
making the presentation speech.This renewed the surprise on the hostess so 
much that she was made speechless,but actions told the guests that she was 
pleased beyond measure.
At midnight the guests departed for their several  homes wishing Mrs Dodson 
many more sush peiods and that they all be as joyful as this one proved to be
